Friends, I should have announced this much earlier, but it’s been a crazy day, plus I managed to lock myself out of my blogger account. Sigh. Anyway, I have a blog running today on Sweethearts of the West . The subject is Kiowa History and Mythology.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Kiowa, they were one of the great horse tribes of the southern U.S. plains. They allied with the mighty Comanches and held off Anglo expansion into their territory for decades. The two tribes were infamous for their brutal raids, but one thing I’ve learned in my months of research about the Kiowa is that they were also a spiritual people with close family ties.
Included in my blog is a beautiful painting of three Kiowa men done in 1898. If you’re interested in reading more, please stop by: http://sweetheartsofthewest.blogspot.com
