REBEL MINE is live on Amazon. Finally! The ebook actually went live yesterday, but today is the official release day, when ARC readers are supposed to post their reviews. i’m still working on the paperback, trying to iron out formatting issues.

This book has been a labor of love for me. I’m fascinated by Irish history, legends and folklore. I chose to set my story in 1798, at the time of a rebellion against British rule because it set the stage for the modern movement toward Ireland’s liberation. My characters are natural enemies. Colin is a member of the Anglo Aristocracy and a former officer in the British Army, while Brenna descends from tenant farmers and ancient Celtic warriors. Not exactly a match made in heaven, but love finds a way. It’s a romance, after all, though history plays a big role in shaping their destiny.
I began writing this book way back in 2008, when I entered it in the big Orange Rose yearly contest under a different title. It made it to the finals, and one editor would have offered for it if the mega publishing house she represented hadn’t just signed for an Irish trilogy. Story of my life, always a day late.
I’m easily discouraged, so I put the ten chapters I’d written way back in my digital closet, but the story never really left my mind. Colin and Brenna nagged at me to set them free. Thus, about two years ago, after a dry spell in my writing, I dug out those stored chapters and went to work researching and researching and researching the 1798 rebellion. Boy did I have fun!
Now, I really hoped to publish this puppy the trad way, but with my record of rather lackadaisical self-publishing and my age — I’m old! — I guess none of the agents I approached saw me as a good bet. Plus the historical aspect of REBEL MINE may be rather touchy in some quarters. So, I slunk away with my tail between my legs.
But if there’s one thing I am, it’s persistent. I wasn’t about to stuff years’ worth of work away in the closet again. So, here I am, offering my self-published baby, a work of love, to the world. I don’t expect it to sell like hotcakes, but I hope a few people will find it entertaining and a bit educational about a period in history most of us didn’t know anything about.

Rebel Mine is a book that once started is difficult to put aside. The action beings within the first pages, and continues throughout the book. The characters are realistic, and the events vivid and easy to visualize. This is a good one Lyn.
